Kansas pest control CEU requirements
How many CEUs does Kansas require for pest control licence renewal?
It depends which licence you hold — Kansas sets a different obligation for each tier, and they are not even measured the same way. Certified commercial applicator owe 1 core hour plus 7, 5 or 3 pest-management hours for each subcategory held, per three-year period, or retest; Registered pest control technician owe registration under a licensed business — confirm current training requirement with kda. There is no single pooled number, which is the most common reason somebody arrives at renewal short.
Key factIssuing agency: Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) — Pesticide and Fertilizer Program
- Requirement
- Set per licence tier — see the table below
- Cycle length
- 36 months
- Deadline
- Credits must be earned by 31 December of the expiration year. The renewal window is October–December of that year, and renewal (application plus per-category fees to KDA) is separate from earning credits. Fail to renew within 30 days after expiry and ALL earned credits are forfeited — full examination is then required.

- Exam structure
- General core exam plus a category or subcategory exam for each area of work, hosted by KDA. A grade of at least 75% is required on each commercial applicator exam (K.A.R. 4-13-13(c)) — higher than the 70% most states use.
What each licence tier owes
| Licence tier | Requirement | Detail that catches people out |
|---|---|---|
| Certified commercial applicator | 1 core hour plus 7, 5 or 3 pest-management hours for EACH subcategory held, per three-year period, or retest | A typical 7A + 7E pest control certification is 1 core + 7 + 7 = 15 hours. Hours are added up per subcategory; extras do not carry forward. If your subcategories sit on different three-year clocks you may need more than one core hour. |
| Registered pest control technician | Registration under a licensed business — confirm current training requirement with KDA | Technician registration and renewal fees are set in K.A.R. 4-13-33. |
