South Carolina pest control licence requirements
How do you get a pest control licence in South Carolina?
South Carolina applicator licences are issued by Clemson University — Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). Requirements are set per category rather than as a single general licence, so the exam you sit and the hours you carry depend on which categories you intend to work. Details below are published only once verified against the agency.

- Exam structure
- Core exam plus a category exam for each category held. Register through DPR at dprexams@clemson.edu. Online exams are available. Exam results stay valid for five years from the date taken. A commercial licence can also be obtained by reciprocating an existing licence from a state SC holds a reciprocal agreement with. Category 7A applicants running a business also need the 7A Structural Pest Control Business licence and a Designated Certified Applicator (DCA) on file.

- Agreements
- SC issues commercial licences by reciprocity from states it holds an agreement with, as an alternative to sitting the SC Core and category exams. Confirm the current list with DPR before relying on it: 864-646-2150.
Reciprocity is the most commonly misunderstood part of moving states. We publish only agreements confirmed by the agency, never inferred ones.
