Indiana pest control licence requirements
How do you get a pest control licence in Indiana?
Indiana applicator licences are issued by Office of Indiana State Chemist (OISC) — Pesticide Section, Purdue University. Requirements are set per category rather than as a single general licence, so the exam you sit and the hours you carry depend on which categories you intend to work. Details below are published only once verified against the agency.

- Exam structure
- Two steps: a written Core exam, then a category exam. Exams are scheduled through Metro Institute (indiana.metrosignup.com); no paper exams after training. No exam may be attempted more than three times in any 12-month period. For-hire certification in 7b (termite) or 12 (WDO inspection) also requires a State Chemist-approved practical hands-on training program first. Category 13 is Core exam only. Once certified you must ALSO hold an annual licence (credential) to buy, use or supervise pesticide use.
- Application fee
- $45
- Cycle length
- 60 months
- Agreements
- OISC accepts out-of-state applicants for an Indiana licence based on a current licence from the home state (copy enclosed with the credential application). Confirm category equivalence with OISC: 765-494-1492.
Reciprocity is the most commonly misunderstood part of moving states. We publish only agreements confirmed by the agency, never inferred ones.
